Brand new to the site. I just bought a Panasonic this weekend for $45. I am new to the bike scene and I was looking for a project bike. Didnt know anything about the Panasonic brand but have seen some here and there on craiglist. So I dont know much about the bike- got it at a swap meet and was in decent shape. Minor frame rust and tires done. It is a 12 speed with Shimano 600 rerailer. It’s for sure a 81′ the serial number starts with 1F. Which I learned from the site is a June 81′. so it turned 30 this month! Really just want to know if any of the Panasonic buff’s on here could lend me a hand and let me know what i bought. Was it a good pick up for $45. Rims i think are orginal and they are staight- everthng seems orginal except for the broke down Specialized seat! Frame is in good shape- back gears shift front derailer does not. brakes work great. No writing on the bike period- just the front badge. Made in Japan under the Panasonic. I know i must be all over the place but… I really want to know what i got here. looking to fix it up and ride this boy out for a while. So if anybody can help me out with some info I would be most thankful. The only reason I think It’s a DX4000 is because of its 12 gears and the Shimano 600′s. From what i gathered from the 81′ catalog that was the only model with the Shimano 600.Tons of bike pics in my profile. Check it out.
