Welcome to the new site justice.
I have seen a few Cruisers here and there while looking through Craigslist ads from across the country. You are correct though, it isn’t one of Panasonic’s more popular models.
I’m guessing they sold OK back in the day but nowhere near the numbers of say the Sport 500 or Sport 1000 and Villager models that were very common as far as Panasonics are concerned.
I enjoy seeing some of the less popular models such as the Cruiser and City Bike when they pop up in my Craigslist searches. It keeps things interesting.
The funny thing about the Cruiser is that in the original Panasonic literature, it says they were built to withstand the damaging effects of salt air. Now HOW that was done aside from alloy wheels and stainless spokes they don’t say. Perhaps a little marketing magic at play there.
I assume you’ve seen the catalog page featuring your bike?
